About MIXdesign
MIXdesign is a New York-based think-tank and design consultancy that explores and creates solutions for the spatial consequences of diversity and inclusion for everyday building types including restrooms, university campuses, workplaces and art museums. MIX builds on the success of Stalled!, an award-winning interdisciplinary design-research project initiated in 2015 in response to national controversies surrounding transgender access to bathrooms. MIXdesign is a space-planning consultant for the American LGBTQ+ Museum.
MIXdesign is supported by the Architectural League of New York, a cultural non-profit founded in 1881 that has acted as our Fiscal Sponsor, allowing us to obtain grants from the New York State Council on the Arts and the AIA Brunner Grant for Architectural Research. The League is an active MIXmuseum partner, collaborating with us to conduct, publish and disseminate our research to its national audience and by convening peer-review workshops and public conferences.
